松澤大樹の研究分野は「がん」と「脳」です。
「がん」に関しては「ＰＥＴによるがん診断法」の開発者です。
「脳」に関しては、うつ病、統合失調症、認知症の主病巣を発見しました。
ＭＲＩ（磁気断層撮影）の特別な撮影方向から、うつ病、統合失調症の患者には脳の扁桃体にそれぞれ特有の位置、形の欠損が見られること、患者には両方の欠損や痕跡が認められることから、松澤は、うつ病、統合失調症は同じ一つの病気と見ています。
認知症は扁桃体の欠損以外に海馬の萎縮が加わった病気です。
